From the ancient folk pieces of the Berber mountain communities, to the Arab-Andalusian music of the cities, to the roots-fusion that you'll hear blaring from taxi radios and café ghetto blasters, music is the ultimate expression of Morocco's culture.
The outer sides are hand painted and you can truly see the artisan craftsmanship that is inlayed in the decorative wood. The skin is traditionally fish, camel or goat and is glued on and tightened over the frame.
Every riq is unique. Handcrafted in Morocco using traditional techniques, each instrument features a design chosen by the artisan during production. Because colors vary from batch to batch, your riq may arrive in red, blue, black, or another color. We cannot guarantee or accommodate specific color requests.
