Authentic Moroccan Beni Ourain Berber Rugs are made of 100% wool, are shaggy with lots of material, and have fringe on two sides. Therefore, you must be extra careful when washing and caring for your rug.
Vacuuming:
To keep your Authentic Moroccan Beni Ourain Berber rug fresh and clean for a longer amount of time between deep cleans it is important to vacuum regularly. It is also very important to keep your vacuum on a low or medium setting as needed. Wool does not allow dirt to sink in very easily but if you go too long without a vacuum it eventually becomes very difficult to remove the dirt.
Stains:
Of course, there will be the occasional, unfortunate, stain but not to worry; they are not impossible to remove yourself. Start by blotting any excess on the stain, do not rub the stain whatsoever! Then use a mixture of distilled vinegar and cold water in a 1-to-1 ratio. Spray the mixture onto the stain and saturate heavily into the wool. Next you want to brush the area very gently with a toothbrush or another soft bristled brush. If this does not work for you then the next step in this guide is your best bet.
Professional Cleaning:
Obviously for tougher stains that we cannot remove ourselves will need to be taken care of by a professional rug cleaner. They have the resources and products best to deal with those stubborn stains that leave a darker, more colorful trail.
Deep Clean Yourself:
In order to keep your rug smelling good, looking fresh, and feeling soft it is important to deep clean every so often as to avoid having to take it to a professional rug cleaner, as we all know we want to avoid that cost as often as possible. The regular vacuuming will allow you to deep clean less frequent than if you do not vacuum. Start by getting your rug completely wet all the way through. Once your rug is soaked, use color guard detergent to suds up your rug and use a very soft brush to rub it into the wool. Once you feel like your rug is as clean as you want it, fully rinse the soap out of the rug before hang drying it in the sun. It is very important to ensure your rug is fully dry before laying it back into your home.
Right now we have three sizes available for our rug; small, medium, and large.
