Handmade from clay of Mexico’s Guadalajara region, each dish is shaped by hand and has a one-of-a-kind look—variations in clay colors depend on the firing process and conditions of the land at that time.
Clay cookware is fragile and prone to breakage, but proper curing can help harden them for long-lasting use.
CURING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Soak entire dish in cool water overnight
- Drain and wipe dry
- Fill dish with water to ½ in. below the rim, then add ½ cup of vinegar
- Place dish on stove top and slowly bring water to a slow boil
- Let liquid boil until about ½ cup remains
- Cool slowly and wash
TO CLEAN:
Soak in lightly sudsy water and wipe with a soft brush to remove any hardened food. DO NOT scrub hard.
We recommend re-curing the dish periodically to help disinfect it.
