Grandma's Lemon Honey Ginger Tea for Cold Season

Grandma's Lemon Honey Ginger Tea for Cold Season

"My Grandma always had the best cough and cold remedy. It was simple, it was easy, and I always felt better when she would make it for me.  Simply add grated or sliced ginger in boiling water, squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into a mug, add one tablespoon of honey, fill the mug with the strained ginger tea and stir.  This warm and comforting drink soothes the throat and suppresses a cough.  Thanks Grandma!"

Everyone knows that citrus fruit is packed full of vitamin C which is great for the immune system and fighting off colds. Honey is one of the best remedies for a sore throat due to its natural antibacterial properties that allows it to act as a wound healer, immediately offering relief for pain while working to reduce inflammation. Honey can also kill bacteria and help fight off viral infections. The anti-inflammatory gingerols and shaogals in ginger root will help to relieve a sore throat quickly, and they also kill rhinoviruses, which cause colds in the first place.
